Actually there’s also a Jerry’s at Tanglin Shopping Centre. I’ve always thought it to be far better than Tony, or any other BBQ rib place I’ve tried. You should try a place called Blooies too, if you like this sort of cuisine. View all comments by Jevon Louis

Melissa: I think you’re right. The few times I have been to Club Street, the restaurants always appeared to have pretty slow business. Dempsey Road has been heavily marketed. That’s probably why people still flock there even though it’s much more inaccessible.

Hello,

On the topic of wanton mee, i had recently discovered this stall in China town hawker centre (the huge one on 2nd level). Don’t know the name, but the stall is located in the middle of the whole place, facing 2 lift openings. The char siew is quite good, noodles are nice and springly + the sauce they use to drench the noodles is v tasty. Give it a try if yr there. Run by old auntie and her husband.

Also the best char siew i have even tasted is in KL at Oversea Restaurant. Would send u a pict if i could attach. It’s along Jalan Imbi just behind bukit bintang.

Wah this stall was recommended to me by one of the cleaners in the building few yrs back. I must say their chicken is really quite good, esp the sauce that comes with it. I used to Ta Pau 1/2 chicken w/o rice for dinner. :)

Hihi, I’ve been following your blog on & off and find u really a cool food reviewer. lol. The pics you’ve taken always look really nice and delicious. :P
Btw, since it’s a jap food entry, would like to share some inputs.

Veron, your reviews should come with a warning: Do not view during after-dinner hours. I had my dinner but looking at that plate of chicken wings makes me wanna eat them all up!

Club Street is an enclave of many good restaurants. But places like Dempsey and Holland Village hog all the limelight.

Question: How do you maintain your figure with all the good food you’re eating?

Hey Debbie, I’m so sorry to hear of your bad experience! I am forwarding your feedback to Helena because I’m in no position to explain the varying food portions.

That said, I do have to clarify that the 15% discount is not applicable to the Sparklette set, since the set itself is already a promotion. The discount is valid for ala carte orders, as I have mentioned above.

Anyways, I might as well say it now. The Sparklette set menu is off the table. Very sad for me as I loved the sound of a “Sparklette Menu”. Persimmon has just rolled out a buffet menu today (December 1) for lunch and dinner. There’s no more ala carte orders, it seems, as they have introduced free flow of food at a fixed price. lala: You’re in luck! They do have an Irish Cream Liqueur flavor on the menu — a combination of vanilla and Irish Whiskey!

Fen: Oh we took the shuttle bus! It brought us right to the main lobby where Seventh Heaven is. I’m using the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X50. It’s waaay overdue for an upgrade but I’m too stingy to get a better cammie!

Hi Veron, just an update. My friends and I visited Persimmon again recently and brought guests from out of town. We had been raving about the restaurant to them but at the end, one of our guests left feeling unsatisfied.
We ordered the Sparklette sets again and lo and behold, they served us portions which were half the size of what we had before. Half!

Also, we got 15% discount on our first visit (which included 2 Sparkette sets), but this time, they didn’t give us a discount on the sets. When I asked, the waiter said they must’ve “made a mistake” the last time.

I dunno… the food’s good, but what made it great was the portions and the discount, which combined made us feel like superstars. Now, we don’t feel special anymore. No difference from eating anywhere else.

Will I go back again? I don’t know… maybe not.
